Marks running career really began one day in 2013 when he took a walk around his office parking lot during his lunch break. That walk turned into a jog and then into daily lunchtime runs. Before long, he entered his first ultramarathon, the Speedgoat 50k, and was immediately hooked. Since then he has consistently gotten faster and won many races. He is particularly fond of 100 milers.
Max has prided himself on being able to run anything. Anything from 3k steeple to obstacle courses to 100-mile ultras. There is fun in just being on two legs and going fast or climbing mountains. Based in Bend, Oregon, Max has raced and won over a huge range of distances and terrain including winning both the World Mountain Running Championship in 2011 and the 100km World Championship in 2014. Recently he has taken on several projects to give back to the running community. He is a co-director of the Max King Trail Running Camps for youth and adults, the co-director of the Bend Marathon, and an advocate for youth running and public lands.
Cody Reed has been running for almost his whole life. He has competed at the highest levels while in college, and transitioned to ultra trail running a few years after school. He's had success from the 50k to the 100 mile distances, but prefers the 100k race. Some of his notable finishes include wins at the 2016 USATF 50k trail championships, 2017 Way Too Cool 50k, two second place finishes at the Tarawera 100k, and a win at the 2019 Ultra Trail Cape Town 100k. Cody shares his knowledge of the sport and training with the athletes he coaches, and is sponsored by Under Armour, Spring Energy, Coros Watches, Drymax socks, and the world famous Squirrels Nut Butter anti-chafe.
